Five Year Milestone

Zest in the West is in its fith year of supporting the West Houston Leadership Institute and The Houston West Chamber of Commerce! Zest continues to grow and this year we are excited to invite you to the Sparking Affair, and the Grand Zesting including the Foam on the Range "Foam Zone". Zest in the West can only happen with the help of volunteers like you, so please join us for this fun, festive West Houston event!

Zest in the West celebrates culinary creations, craft beer and premium wines in west Houston. The Grand Zesting features spectacular dishes from restaurant in the West Houston Community with a selection of premium wines and craft beers to sample. Benefiting the West Houston Leadership Institute, the Grand Zesting hosts a live and silent auction to raise money for scholarships to the institute.

We want to thank all of the volunteers that participated in this event last year. Your hard work made Zest in the West a success as well as an enjoyable and memorable experience! We cannot wait to see you all again and to add new faces as our volunteers and friends!

Please read the below information carefully and fill out the volunteer registration form fully. Please remember, volunteers represent Zest in the West to the patrons enjoying the event. If you are looking for a great way to meet new people, educate patrons about beer and wine, and mingle with industry representatives, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you! We want fun, friendly, dependable volunteers!

Shift Time: 5:30pm - 9:15pm
Hilton Houston Westchase

Age Requirements

All volunteers must be 21 years of age before the event to volunteer. All IDs will be checked upon arrival.

TABC Certification

It is not necessary to be TABC Certified, but please indicate on your form if you are TABC Certified.

Attire

Grand Zesting:
For this event, please come dressed in a business casual attire. Also, please make sure to wear comfortable shoes because you will be standing for some time.

Attendance & Check-In

We are counting on you! Please be on time for your shift time and if you are going to be unable to attend, please let us know immediately. You will need to check in at least 15 minutes prior to your shift start time. The location of the volunteer check-in area will be sent out in the volunteer informational email prior to the beginning of Zest in the West.

Rules & Responsibilities

There are many posts that volunteers may have during Zest in the West. The main responsibility will be to pour beer or wine at the tables. You do not need to be knowledgeable just have a great attitude and be ready to welcome and interact with guests! Some volunteers may be asked to help with the check-in process, which may mean greeting guests and handing out wine glasses/plates/ programs. Others may help refill ice tubs and supplies throughout the event. All of these job are very important for making the event run smoothly and we greatly appreciate your help with all of these volunteer stations.

We allow all of our volunteers to taste the products they will be pouring before the event begins so that you will know what to suggest when patrons ask for a recommendation. Under No Circumstances, may volunteers over indulge. If over indulgence on site is apparent or suggested, the volunteer will be immediately removed from the event. Please remember that the Zest in the West rules are in place to make the event enjoyable for everyone.
